Earl Spencer brings 35 years of extensive experience in US Government Securities, futures, and options to HTG Capital Partners, LLC (“HTG”). He also has over 25 years of experience in risk and trading management. Since joining the company in 1994, Earl's expertise in trading management, trader development, economic forecasting, and strategic planning have been key to the development and growth of the firm's proprietary trading unit.

Earl's career began at Continental Illinois National Bank in 1974. In 1981, he became Trading Manager of one of the largest primary dealers in US Government and Agency Securities. In 1984, Earl moved to First National Bank of Chicago to assist in the rebuilding of their trading business. During his successful tenure there, First Chicago rose in prominence and profitability. In 1988, Earl put his talents to work as both a proprietary and independent trader of treasury securities and futures.

Today, Earl heads the US Treasury Arbitrage trading unit for HTG. He develops and manages traders around the United States, including HTG’s branch offices in Chicago, New York (NY) and Garden City (NY). HTG has developed a training program for young, aggressive individuals who are highly motivated to succeed. This program builds a strong fundamental and technical foundation for trading success. Earl is also responsible for global strategic planning in the Treasury Arbitrage group and is always seeking new trades and ideas. Earl is a graduate of Indiana University and has lectured in the Public Finance Program at the University of Michigan.
